Guilty Pleasure
< back to news and events | Posted 12/08/2011
Do you have that one thing in life that just makes everything else "seem" so insignificant? I do, but first I have to talk about the other things in my life that bring me joy and pride everyday.
First and foremost I have my faith, without it nothing else matters. My spiritual beliefs carry me through hard times, and I celebrate and give thanks for life's blessings during good times.
My kids are second to none. My two little girls bring me joy beyond words. They are the loves of my life.
I have a beautiful wife who is my best friend, and supports me unconditionally. I am proud to be her husband for the past 11 years. She is truly an angel to me and our kids. She works so hard, and still finds time to manage our home.
The two hero's in my life, my Mom (God rest her soul), and Dad have been the biggest influences on who I am today. Everyday I try to live up to their example, and if I demonstrate half of what they were to me, I will serve my children well.
All my friends, whom I don't often see because we all live such a busy lives, are a significant part of my life. Even though we don't hangout as much we used to before marriage and kids, we carry a bond for life.
My career is very important to me too. It brings new challenges and rewards daily.
So by now you must be asking yourself, "What could possibly make everything that is so important in your life "seem" so insignificant in comparison? What could bring you so much joy?"
I am ashamed to admit it, but my guilty pleasure is something that is a passion in my life. It is childish, and care free. It brings me happiness, enthusiasm, and takes me away from the stresses in my life, and let's my mind rest without external pressures.
I am ready to confess...Sport... yes Sport, is the one thing in my life that brings me so much joy. Be it Football, Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, etc...I love it! As long as someone is competing I will watch it. Yes, even darts! Forgive me...I can't help myself.
My name is Troy, and I'm a sportsaholic.
