Common Questions About Charging

Charging times for your EV will depend on many factors including the kind of vehicle you have, the temperature, and the kind of charger you are using. For example, a 2026 bZ connected to a Level 3 charger can go from 10 % (Low Battery Light) to 80% in as quickly as 28 minutes3.

With over 5000 public charging stations across Canada, getting a charge on the go should be no problem. Simply use the Toyota App plus your vehicle’s nav system to find the closest charger.

Like all Lithium-Ion batteries, there will be some reduction in capacity over the life of the battery. For peace of mind, Toyota EVs have an EV Component Warranty of 8 years/160,000 kms.

For longer trips, charging your vehicle fully, and then determining where charging stations along your route will allow you to recharge. Once you know that, plan your route, and timing, accordingly.

Try using chargers located at the end of the row, as they typically offer more space. If needed, carefully position your vehicle across two spaces, but never park horizontally or block access to other chargers. Do not use extension cables with DC fast chargers.

3 Under ideal conditions (external air temperature of 25 degrees Celsius with 150kW or above Level 3 DC Fast Charger), you can charge from 10 % (Low Battery Light Indicator) to 80% in as quickly as 28 minutes. Charge times are estimates only and can vary significantly based on numerous factors including external air temperatures (colder temperatures or extreme heat), charger type/condition, accessory use, and battery level and condition. DC charging times should be limited to five sessions per day, regardless of external air temperatures). After five 10-80% charge sessions, DC Fast Charging over the next 24 hr period may take longer and be less effective. Public charging experience will vary based on charger type and charger specifications (Level 2 or DC Fast Charger with 150 KW or above) and other factors including vehicle and environmental conditions. Charging times can also vary depending on the actual charging rate realized by the charging station, which can be highly variable and often below the maximum stated rate of charge. This information is intended for comparison purposes only. Toyota does not own or operate public charging stations and is not responsible for their availability or performance. Always plug-in/charge vehicle in accordance with Owner’s Manual. Level 3 DC Fast Charging currently only available at public charging stations.

How to Extend the Life of Your EV Battery

Your Toyota Service representative is your go-to expert for selecting the right tires for your EV—ensuring optimal handling, efficiency, and comfort.

  • Load & Safety: Your Toyota Service representative will confirm the correct tire load and speed rating for your EV’s weight and performance, as per the factory recommendations.
  • Performance & Range: They’ll recommend tires that balance range, grip, and durability based on your driving needs and habits.
  • Quiet Comfort: To maintain Toyota’s EV signature quiet ride, your expert can suggest low-noise tire options.

Keeping tires well maintained will help extend their life, so make sure to:

  • Monitor tire pressure: Keep tires at the recommended pressure for a smooth and safe ride. Your vehicle will notify you if the pressure is incorrect.
  • Schedule wheel alignment: Get your vehicle aligned every 6 months to help ensure even wear.
  • Rotate your tires: Rotate your tires around the vehicle so they wear out equally. Speak to your Toyota Service team about the recommended schedule.

Avoid charging from 0% to 100% regularly and to keep the battery in a moderate charge range (10%-80%) for optimal longevity. After three 10-80% charge sessions, DC Fast Charging over the next 24 hour period may take longer and be less effective. Starting with 2026 model BEVS, this limit increases to five charging sessions per day.

Enabling software updates for your vehicle will ensure that it operates safely and efficiently. Over-The-Air Software Updates allow your vehicle to update its software wirelessly, with quality, capability and convenience updates that are made available for select vehicle systems, such as the multimedia system.
